Laura M. Jordan: My mother inherited this building from her mother.

Katherine Ward Rivers Braswell: Jimmy Braswell bought this building from the Mangums and sold it to Farm Bureau.

Dr. William Perry:The first thing I can recall about this location is that Ab Davis had a grocery store here. He was “Fuzzy” Davis’s father. Ab had a son Floyd, who became Chief of Police in Chesterfield but later moved to Myrtle Beach, where he was Chief of Police. Even later he was Chief of Police in Bennettsville, SC.
Ellison Williams had a café here.

James W. Jenkins:This is the third known location for Farm Bureau. In the 1940’s the office was located on the upper floor of what is today Chesterfield Drug Store. In 1960 Farm Bureau occupied the building that was previously the J. Arthur Knight law office and later Jones Real Estate. The move to this location occurred in 1971.

Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers:I recall this as being the old Royal Cafe. Johnny Davis told me that his father ran it before he sold it to Pete Zounis, a Greek from New York. Pete sold it to Fred Bailey who ran it for a short time. I can vaguely remember when Zounis ran it but have a clear memory of the Wamplers-Mom and Pop-who owned it next. They lived over the Q and Q Grocery (now Chesterfield Drug) on the south side of Main Street. I believe their daughter Betty ran the switchboard for the telephone company; it was located next to their rooms upstairs. Betty married Emry Dotson, and the entire family moved to Charlotte. After the Wamplers I remember Ellison and Dorothy Coleman Williams ran the cafe. I ate breakfast there every morning before school because my parents had to open the grocery store down the street so early in the morning.
