Dr. William Perry:The Watsons opened a dry goods store here and later converted it to an appliance store. The business then moved to South Page Street where the Hartsell automobile dealership had been. Mary Costello's dress shop was located in this building. She was a sister of Welborn Pusser.

Katherine Ward Rivers Braswell: At one time, Edith Watson had a beauty shop in the back of this store.

Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers: I can remember walking to the back of the store to Edith Watson's Primrose Beauty Shop. She employed several beauticians in her shop, one of whom was Madge Hooks from Wadesboro. Edith was the sister of J. Clyde Watson and Virgil Watson, who owned the store during the middle of the century. Julian Watson was an employee. Mary Costello moved her dress shop here from the south side of Main Street. Later, Laura Burch Hunt opened a women's shop, Laura's. She sold her business to Miriam Teal Goodale, and the name was changed to The Casual Shop. The next business that I remember was Dollar Express, a dollar store owned by Chad Vick. At one time, either before or after Dollar Express, Connie Huneycutt Hancock operated a consignment shop in this building. In recent years, Greg Benner has operated ARC (American Resource Corporation), a computer and information technology service here.
