James W. Jenkins: Sam Presson built this house in 1945. He owned and operated a grocery store and later an insurance agency. Sam and Margaret Redfern Presson died within a week of each other. The Pressons had no children, and the house was left to Margaret’s sister, Billie Redfern Hopkins. Julian and Billie Hopkins lived here until 2006 when they moved to a retirement home in Columbia. The house is still vacant in 2007. |
