Katherine Ward Rivers Braswell: I think Ed and Sara Watford live here at one time. I think the Phillips lived here before they moved across the street.

James W. Jenkins: I have known the Vernon family all my life and I considered it a pleasure to have the opportunity to teach both children (Jay and Penny) and to work with Gloria who served as the secretary at the high school. Both children were excellent students, well mannered, polite and enjoyable young people. Jay was one of the best basketball players to come through CHS. Being left-handed, he created problems for the opposing teams and although he was slight of statue, he had an extended range on his shots that often caused the defensive players to back off of him, leaving him with a good look at the basket. He has carried that success with him to the business world. Gloria also kept the books for the athletic department and she saw to it that we never exceeded our budget. She had a wonderful personality, as did Jack, so it is easy to see why the children exhibit those same qualities.
