| Deirdra Phillips - 09/20/2005 Re: Birth Parent Research Sharon, Thank for any help you might give this young lady (below). I don't know her, but she sounds like she has really been looking for her birth family for a long time. Thanks again for your help. Tommy Sellers Mr. Sellers, I am sorry to bother you out of the blue, but I believe you are the same Mr. Sellers that I have spoken to close to 7 years ago. If you aren't, please just delete this email, and I will never disturb you again. (Back then) I was calling different high schools regarding yearbook pictures from the 60's trying to see if I could identify my birth mother. At the time I spoke to you, (I think I have the right person here, but I'm not sure) I was living in Texas. I was born in Lancaster, SC 1/9/69. I have been searching for my birh family for many years with no luck. I think my b-mom may have been raised in Chesterfield County, but I really have no way to know that for sure. After we spoke around 1997-1998, I lost your phone number and did not find it until about 1 1/2 yrs ago after I moved to Hawaii. Well, once again I lost the phone number and in my online searches, I remembered you said you worked at one of the high schools there. So, I'm contacting you again in hopes, by some miracle, you may know someone who might have information useful to me. This is just me grasping at straws, trying to find out something from a family that I do not know. I was fortunate to be adopted. Now, I am 36 with my own children and medical history is a very important issue for me. I have no right to ask anything of you. I do not know you, nor do you know me. Please do not feel obligated because I do not expect anything. I am just hoping beyond all hope, that maybe, I might find some kind of "needle" in a haystack that will guide me toward the answers I seek. Most people do not understand what it's like to grow up and know you were chosen, but not blood related to anyone in your family. I never had that feeling until I had my own children. I do not expect relationships with my birth family, just some closure. Thank you for your time. I do not expect anything from you. You do not have to reply to me at all. This is just me grasping at straws. If I do not get a reply from you, I promise to never bother you again. Thank you so much for your time and have a wonderful day. I lost your phone number years ago and just dropped the search I was doing. I really appreciate your help and your time. You sound very busy. I cannot imagine how busy you must be with all that is going on there. Best wishes to you in that. There is no rush for information. I have more desire for medical history than anything. I though I would include my info again for you. I was born 1-9-69 @ 4:44 (PM I think) at Marion Simms hospital in Lancaster, SC. I was adopted through DSS by a military couple. I grew up in Hampton Co., SC. Currently I have three children (16, 12 1/2, and 6). My husband is in the Navy and I am in college. My b-mother was 5'4'' tall, dark hair and dark complexion. She was working at a sewing factory at the time and had a 2 1/2 - 3 yr. boy at the time of my birth. My b-father was 6', sandy blonde hair, fair complexion and worked at a saw mill. They both were the youngest in their families. (Of 5 members each.) My b-father had a sister who was mentally retarded. And his mother worked at the same sewing factory as my b-mom. They were all said to be Baptist and my b-father's dad owned a small repair shop at the time (1969) and my b-mom's dad had throat cancer. I think the older I get, the more I want my medical history. And my children question their ethnic background alot. (Mainly my daughter, the 12 1/2 yr old.) If by chance you happen to come across any of these people or someone who might know them, please let them know I don't want to disrupt anyone's lives. I don't expect anything from anyone, but would appreciate medical history if they would share that with me. Please do not feel rushed by me or obligated to help me. I really do appreciate your offer to help, but I don't want to disrupt your life either. It is very kind and generous of you to help me and I really do appreciate it. There is no rush, I am going to plan a trip up your way one day in a month or so. I recently move to Grovetown (near Augusta) GA. We bought our first home here and plan to stay. My husband is retiring next year, once I get my degree. Thank you again. Best wishes to you and I hope Chesterfield High has a wonderful homecoming!
