CHERAW AREA
Is the Cheraw's close to the area my ancestor, Major John PEARSON of Marion's forces during the Rev. War. His wife was Sarah RAIFORD.
Thank you,

MERCHANT BOAT
I have recently found an early postcard mailed from Cheraw around 1908 or 1906.
There is no caption to the postcard to identify it. The postcard is a real photo of what
appears to be a double decker boat or barge, huge in size, pulling up to a dock. Boat
is filled with people and goods and dock is lined with poeple and many goods. The
only identifying character on this postcard is the ship's name, "MERCHANT" and the
postmark, Cheraw, SC. In your historical records is there any reference to a docking
area for these big barges or boats of early trade and transportation. This is a huge
boat and my guess is that it docked somewhere near Cheraw on the Pee Dee River.
I am a historian buff of sorts and any info on this information would be more than
appreciated. I live too far away to pursue this in Cheraw at this time. Thanks for your
time and effort.

Pageland Railroad
In an article on the town of Pageland, I noticed that the town is named after Adolphus High PAGE, a railroad engineer. Does anyone know the name of the railroad for which
he worked?
Thanks for you consideration.
